The Cryo Professional is a cryotherapy product intended to be used by medical professionals for the treatment of various benign skin lesions on patients over 4 years old. Cryotherapy freezes the skin lesion whereby it necrotises. The product contains dimethylether with propane / isobutane. Cryotherapy is a known effective and reliable treatment.
With the Cryo Professional different types of benign skin lesions can be treated i.e., warts on hands or feet, genital warts, skin tags, water warts, age spots and hyper pigmentation. The frequency and duration of the treatment varies per type of skin lesion and ranges from 15 to 40 seconds.
During or immediately after the treatment, there may be an experience of slight pain or a tingling sensation which gradually dissipates. Blistering can also appear after several days which should not be punctured, but covered with a plaster or bandage. Inform the patient beforehand about what can be expected before, during and after the treatment including post-treatment care and possible side-effects. As necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 2 weeks.
The Cryo Professional is available in three versions:
Warning! The product should only be used with the foam sticks supplied. Other types of foam sticks should not be used as they can reduce the effectiveness of the product and cause tissue or skin damage. The foam sticks are for single use on one patient only.
The treatment of specific skin lesions vary per lesion. Carefully read the instructions before using the Cryo Professional. The steps of application have been described below.
Step 1: Determine which type of skin lesion is to be treated for the recommended freezing times:
Treat skin lesions one part at a time if they are larger than 5mm.
Step 2: Disinfect the area prior to treatment to prevent infection.
Step 3: Determine the best treatment. Prepare as necessary the skin lesion prior to applying cryotherapy. The use of, for example, keratolytic, has no known adverse effect on the performance of the product.
Bleeding warts is to be stopped before using the Cryo Professional.
Step 4: Determine the size of foam stick to use on the skin lesion (2 mm or 5 mm). Place the foam stick in the dispenser.
Step 5: Remove the protective cover from the push button and press the bottom to saturate the foam stick with the cryogen until it drips. Hold the dispenser upright while saturating the foam stick and do not point the dispenser in the direction of the patient or other persons in the room.
DO NOT activate the dispenser when the foam stick is in contact with the patient. DO NOT re-saturate the foam stick again during treatment as this will reduce foam stick’s reservoir capability and the effectiveness of the treatment.
Step 6: Turn the dispenser horizontally at a 90 degrees angle, with the foam stick pointing towards the ground.
Step 7: Wait 15 seconds allowing the foam stick to achieve treatment temperature.
Step 8: Place the foam stick against the skin lesion. Keep the foam stick against the skin lesion for the recommended time as listed in the table above. Keep the foam stick vertically downward during treatment.
Step 9: Remove the foam stick from the dispenser after the treatment and dispose of it.
Step 10: The treatment can be repeated for no more than 4 times with interval of 2 weeks between treatments.
The product should be stored in a cool and dry place at a maximum of 25 °C. It should not be stored in direct sunlight.
